Wednesday's Dutch Oven Recipe
Hungry Scout French Toast
1 Tube Sausage or Fruit of choice (1-2 Cups)
1 stick of butter or margarine
1/2 C. brown sugar
1 can 29 oz. peaches
1 loaf Texas Toast
6 eggs
1/2 C. milk
2 tsp. vanilla
1 big zip lock bag Gallon plus
Break up your loaf of bread into bite size pieces and put them in your zip lock bag, add eggs and milk and mix together in the bag, set aside.
Brown the sausage in your 12" Dutch oven, set aside.
Melt the butter and brown sugar, stir frequently, continue to cook for about 5 minutes.
Pour bread and egg mixture in a 12" Dutch oven. Add sausage or fruit to the Dutch oven and mix it into the bread mixture, pour melted butter and brown sugar mixture over the top. Cook for 30-40 minutes at 350 degrees. For charcoal figure 8-10 pieces on the bottom and 10-12 on the top. Don't be afraid to check it.
Sprinkle powdered sugar on the top. Enjoy with syrup or eat just as it is.
